A BGC-Excelsior telephone poll found that 36% of respondents nationwide believed that they were very much or completely at risk of getting the new flu strain, while 46% believed that they were not or only slightly at risk. Almost two-thirds of respondents nationally thought that the government was sharing all the information. Residents of the Mexico City metropolitan region — at the epicenter of the outbreak — were more skeptical, and were evenly divided on the transparency of the government’s information sharing. Respondents were less confident about how effective the government’s response was: 46% thought the government had the situation under control, and 46% thought that the epidemic was surging out of control. The poll was carried on on April 27-29. (Excelsior 5/4)
